Girth Hitch to a Doubled Loop

This knot's a little tricky because it matters how the webbing lies. Extra or missing twists can affect the strength of the knot.

Here's a picture of the loosened knot. Notice:
  • The green runner forms the girth hitch once you put a half twist in it. This fold weakens the green runner but decreases the kinking of the red runner. In the spectra/spectra test, this side of the knot failed at 69% rated strength.
  • The red runner is the one with a double loop. In the nylon/spectra test, this side of the knot failed at 99% of simple loop strength.
